Trap and Seal Evaluation

The presence of a suitable trapping geometry, together with a deep understanding of the processes that can impair the integrity of traps over geological time are critical to effective risking of any prospect. Seals can be a problematic component of any petroleum system, being challenging to evaluate due to limited sampling, a reliance on spot measurements that are rarely representative and a range of different issues that depend on the depositional system that produced them. Add in dynamic trap breach elements and many of the established techniques cease to be effective. Lack an effective seal and its game over so careful attention to these play elements is vital for future success.
