The New Guinea Tech Pitch is a pair of one-day interactive workshops designed to match cutting edge technologies with industry need across New Guinea Island, over both land and sea. Our technology pitch, timed to precede the PNG Investment Week event in Sydney, will focus on technology solutions to address challenges facing discovery and exploitation of oil and gas in PNG. Given shared geology with the Indonesian part of New Guinea Island, many of the technologies will have common applications that will appeal to E&P companies operating in both Jurisdictions.
Poised to begin a major energy investment cycle, driven by development of multi-billion-dollar LNG projects and renewed exploration efforts targeted frontier basin opportunities, the need for cutting-edge technology could never be higher. PNG has always presented challenges to undertake exploration and development programs due to the remote location, arduous terrain and complicated petroleum systems. Leveraging emerging technologies of the day, like synthetic aperture radar to map inaccessible surface structures, strontium isotope stratigraphy to constrain the thickness of limestone overburden and sophisticated structural modelling software to restore complicated thrust structures has always be key to unravelling sub-surface complexity and reducing reliance on expensive and poor quality seismic in both the PNG Highlands and across the foreland basin.
The New Guinea Tech Pitch Sydney event, with a focus on PNG, will compliment our sister event held in Jakarta the week prior to address similar challenges faced across the border in the Indonesian provinces of West Papua. Pitching solutions at both meetings, provides the perfect opportunity to make sure your technology is front of mind with E&P companies looking to reduce risk, improve understanding and lower cost to ensure these projects proceed.

Leading vendors from industry service companies, R&D organisations and academia are invited to pitch technology solutions addressing any important sub-surface requirements to minimise risk, reduce uncertainty and maximise project success. Pitchers are provided with a 10 minute slot to introduce their technology solution and propose opportunities for future deployment. Group discussion, online voting and a final summary session will allow both vendors and attendees to fully understand the value of many different new tools and techniques.
Our previous pitch event was heavily oversubscribed so to avoid disappointment we encourage technology vendors to apply to pitch early. This helps everyone as it allows use to release a provisional pitch squad that will help drive attendance and ensure we get your potential customers in the room. Delivering our best “game-day” pitch squad is critical for success so we warmly invite you to bring your A-team ideas!
Applications to pitch will close on the 24th of September and with only 20 pitch slots available the opportunity to participate will not last. Those applications selected to pitch will not be charged pitch fees until we secure sufficient attendees from the industry to ensure we have a viable event. Ticketing for attendance at the pitch will be released once we have secured a viable pitch squad, with a USD$295 fee for the one-day event. To help build a focussed audience each selected pitcher will be provided with 5 complimentary tickets to offer to their customer base.
Pitch Format
The unique pitch format is distinct from a normal technical conference. Each pitch is provided a strict 10-minute slot, with pitches to be allocated to sessions based on a common technical theme. Unlike many conferences that frown upon presentations that aim to promote a commercial product this opportunity is all about showcasing the benefits of your technology and to start conversations about the application to client needs. Cut to the chase and show how your technology can deliver real value by reducing project costs, improving certainty and delivering solutions that will help drive more commercially successful project outcomes.
To help with pitch scoring and comparative analysis in the afternoon facilitated group discussion session the pitch will utilise a consistent format. Who Will Attend?
The target audience will be representatives of E&P companies, both those involved in the region as well as those seeking new opportunities. Technology pitches that directly address the perceived barriers to future success will be the key to attracting the right audience on pitch day. Our previous technical pitch event focussed on the Perth Basin in Australia delivered an audience of over 80 people for a similar one-day event, with all major operators represented.

The Timor Technology Pitch is one of a series of events we will be holding across the APAC region this November. Discounts are offered for participation in two additional sister events that will address technology challenges across both onshore and offshore New Guinea Island. Our Jakarta event will focus on technology to assist in highlighting West Papua potential whilst our PNG focussed pitch event, timed to coincide with the PNG Investment Week held in Sydney, will detail technologies relevant to PNG basin opportunities.
